Non-ACGME fellowship opportunities

March 1, 2012

If you do not secure a position in the match there are a few non-ACGME fellowship positions that I have found and would like to share. Most of these positions allow one to get hands on clinical experience which may make you a better candidate for residency the following year. I have tried to choose those that do not require residency training and appear IMG friendly but can’t guarantee that all will be available to all. I chose those that I thought could be helpful in attaining a residency in Internal Medicine. There are very few of these opportunities.

Intensive Care
Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care
See the instructions on how to apply for the non-ACGME clinical fellowship. “To inquire about a research fellowship or non-ACGME cardiac clinical fellowship, please send a letter of inquiry and a copy of your curriculum vitae to Dr. James Rawn, MD, in care of Sasha Smith, Cardiothoracic Surgery Coordinator at 75 Francis Street, Boston, MA 02115. Your letter of inquiry should summarize your previous clinical and research training and indicate your specific areas if interest within the fields of cardiothoracic surgery. Please specify in your letter that you are applying for a non-ACGME position.”
